About

TrendResearcher is for anyone who wants to know:
What do people want?
and what are they searching for?

The data on here is curated with the online solopreneur, particularly digital product makers (like me) in mind.

A man with short brown hair smiles at the camera while standing outdoors in front of a large body of water under a clear blue sky. He is wearing a dark jacket over a white shirt.

My name is Nicolai, and I’ve been making digital products for over 35 years, and started selling them a few decades ago.

It’s what I do for a living. I make and sell digital products for artists

I have endless ideas for what to make, but in order to sell something, I need to know that there is demand for it.

If nobody is looking for it, it’s not going to sell. I know this to be true because I’ve made a lot of stuff that never sold. Luckily, there are ways to know what people are looking for and one of the easiest it to look at what they search for online.

The more people want something, the more they search for it online. By following those numbers, you can see if demand is going up or down.

It’s not just demand, but active interest, things people want to act on (do, learn, buy).

If I am making a product that helps people to draw, I want to know what they struggle with. By checking how many people search for “How to draw in perspective” vs “How to draw architecture” I can get an idea of what sort of products I can make that people are actually looking for.

Finding the trending topics and interests is key to capturing people’s attention not just for finding and making my next products but also for engaging my audience. I’m constantly scouring keyword search reports and long lists of obscure terms looking for breakout topics.

99% of it is flat, so finding a subject where that search volume is growing is quite exciting, and those ski jump slopes are few and far between.

That’s where TrendResearcher.com comes in. All the riff-raff has been sorted out for you, and unless you want to, you will only find topics that have growing public interest. You can get a sampling of what’s inside for free, but if you want the full archive, including all the latest finds, updated daily, sign up today.

I hope to see you on the inside.

FAQ

I already use the another website/newsletter/service that shows me what’s trending, why should I use this one?

I did too, but the trends were very long term and a bit too esoteric for my businesses. If a certain kind of Yacht construction technique is trending up over the past 10 years, it may be interesting, but I can’t really use that information. I wanted to know what people are looking for now.

Also, I don’t do physical products or manufacturing for example, my interest is digital products, so that’s where the focus will be to start with on TrendResearcher. Not exclusively, but highly skewed to the intangible, online digital world.
